Jonathan Attaway began pursuing a call into ministry in 2010 while attending Tarleton State University in Stephenville Tx. In 2015, Jonathan graduated from Tarleton with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology with a Pre-Ministry Focus. While finishing his degree, Jonathan and his wife Kelsie joined the leadership team at Timber Ridge Church where he served as the Connections and Assimilation Pastor. In May of 2018, Jonathan, Kelsie, and their son Bear moved to Winnsboro, Tx to begin building a brand new church to reach people with the message of love, hope, forgiveness, and freedom found in Jesus Christ. As Lead Pastor, Jonathan is responsible for the teaching, vision, and overall leadership of Freedom Church.
We believe that above all, people matter to God, especially those who are lost. God has an intended purpose for each and every person. Every person has a name and a story and all the details of their lives, big and small, are important to God.
No matter where people are from or how they were raised, we believe that God gave his son Jesus for them all.
For Freedom Church, we feel that serving our community is essential to displaying Jesus to our community.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
- Matthew 20:28
At Freedom Church, we believe that we are to seek the good of the city and those who inhabit it. We also believe that community exists outside our city limits.
Along with building our city, we feel that we are called to affect our county, our state, our country, and our world with the love of Jesus.
Although we are a new church in Winnsboro Tx, we feel that we are just one piece of the puzzle that God wants to use to help paint the picture of Jesus in our community.
While we believe that Freedom Church has a specific purpose and calling, we know that building the kingdom is more important than building personal recognition and fame.
We desire to join the work that God has already established in Winnsboro and in the surrounding counties and bring a fresh perspective and energy to reaching people that call East Texas home.
Whether they are good or bad, life gives us many examples to follow.
All of us can say that we have spent our fair share of time and mistakes trying to figure these examples out. At the end of it all, Jesus himself left us the best example for life and finding purpose!
Jesus said it this way himself in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free.”
We believe that for us, the freedom and forgiveness that we have experienced in life comes from no other source but Jesus.
Growing in faith and reaching others are two essential qualities that Freedom Church will be continuously built on.
We feel that God’s blessings in our lives aren’t meant just for us. We believe that God requires us to live open handedly and freely give to others as he as given to us.
Because we believe that God has generosity in our purpose, we feel that we have an obligation to be a source of encouragement to other pastors, church planters, and new churches that he would desire to start.
